Kid Jokes:
How did an ant turn into a rock?
It was already a butterfly.
How did the dog fly up to the sky?
He had wings on his head.
Now you may have read these two jokes and said to yourself not only are they not funny, but they don't make any sense. Well both of those may be true, but if it is something you overhear when your 4 and 5 year old boys are telling jokes to each other then it makes perfect sense and you start to laugh. My kids are the best, and they say the darndest things.
They have a great imagination and when you hear a couple of kids having a conversation with one another sometimes it may make sense and sometimes it doesn't. But the bottom line is it doesn't have to. Kids have their own language. Their own stories. Their own way of telling a joke. Who cares if what they said doesn't make sense? At least they are talking. Who cares if the jokes they tell you aren't funny? As long as they laugh and they are using their imagination that is all that matters. Alway encourage them and support them in all that they do.
So the next time your child wants to tell you a story or a joke just listen to them. It may not mean anything now, but one day that imagination of theirs could turn into the next great idea, the next big comedian, the next big star!!

Life
Everyday we live this crazy thing called life. We don't know what to expect or what to do half the time, but we get up each morning and try to live each day because it's second nature. We need to stop acting like robots and not just be passive in living our life, we need to be active in living our life. Don't just let life happen to you, but rather let you make a difference in your life and take control. Taking control of your life is the only way to truly live and enjoy each and everyday. If you have a dream or a goal then don't be afraid to go after it. For so long I was afraid and at times unable to go after and achieve my goals, but now I am in a position where I am able to start actually doing and not just talking. I can actually work at accomplishing my goals and not just looking at them written down on paper. In a matter of three months I have accomplished at least two of the goals I have set for myself and I am working on others.
What are your goals in life? What do you REALLY want to do? As the song in Princess Diaries 2 says "take a chance, make a wish, make a change, and breakaway". I might be slightly off on the lyrics, but you get the idea. Let me know what your top three goals are and what you are going to do in order to accomplish them.

Kid's Eating Philosophy
As a mother of three young kids I would like for them to LOVE veggies, but that doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon. I would also like them to eat everything I cook, but that never happens either. When it comes to food for little one's you have what I call good days, bad days, and in-between days. The good days are when they eat EVERYTHING on their plates. The bad days are when they don't eat ANYTHING on their plates. The in-between days are when they pick and choose what on their plate they will eat. Gobbling up what they think is tasty and leaving behind what they just don't want to eat.
I know there are some parents out there that force their kids to eat everything on their plate at meal time. I am personally against that. I have days when I can be strict about them eating something and days when I don't care. But I hope that I will never make them eat everything because that can backfire and make them want to eat nothing. My husband says that if they don't eat we should just leave their plates out and when they get hungry that is what they will eat. Sometimes I subscribe to that philosophy and sometimes I don't.
The bottom line is that there are no real rules when it comes to eating for kids. The closest you can come to a rule is to follow the food pyramid guide for kids (http://www.mypyramid.gov/) and hope that you are doing the best that you can by them. You want to find some kind of veggie they will eat and some fruit, but you have to find what works for them and what works for you. Don't follow someone else's rules or philosophy. Make up your own and make it work!!

Accomplishment
For today's post I thought I would do something different. Today I am highlighting a word that means a lot to me right now and that is accomplishment. I feel I have accomplished a lot in my lifetime thus far, but not as much as I could. There are many goals and projects that I still have left to conquer, but I am going to do my best to conquer as many of them as possible one by one. I leave you today with several quotes about accomplishment as well as some websites to refer to with inspirational quotes about accomplishment. Perhaps some of them will resonate with you and perhaps not. But remember all these quotes have something to say whether you agree and can relate or not.
